Medical Device Packaging Priorities

The HealthPack conference took place in Portland, Oregan in March this year. (HealthPack is a medical device packaging industry annual education forum. Its aim is to provide updates in technical knowledge, explore industry trends and connect with the “who’s who” in the industry.)

During the conference, attendees were surveyed by the event organisers, Informa Markets Respondents were asked questions about what type of packaging projects they were prioritising. The results were summarised in an infographic which was featured on the Packaging Digest website.

Most Important Packaging Priority

63% of respondents said their main focus is on packaging relating to new products

Reduced Lead Times

In 2019, packaging projects are typically taking 6 – 12 months to complete whereas, in 2018, projects were taking 12 – 18 months from start to finish.

Use of End User Feedback on Packaging

Only 13% of respondents said they never take end-user feedback into account during the packaging design.

Packaging Usability Testing

Surprisingly, only 47% said they perform usability testing of proposed packaging designs
