Sustainable FSC-approved boards: Dollard Packaging is an FSC approved supplier. What does it mean to be an FSC-approved supplier? It means that we can guarantee chain of custody for carton board from Managed Forests where for every tree cut down to manufacture cardboard or paper, another tree will be planted. Food grade/direct contact materials: If there will be direct contact between the product and its packaging, the choice of board is especially important, particularly for food and medical device packaging. The manufacture of cartons intended for food packaging is a specialist area. The carton board material intended for direct contact with food must be specially selected. Consideration must be given to internal functional barriers to prevent moisture or grease migration from the product and the selection of low migration inks and coatings to prevent migration from the exterior of the carton. Chilled or Frozen Food: Certain materials we use are suitable for chilled and freezer units. For example, we can use food-grade boards, including sustainable, environmentally-friendly moisture barrier (freeze barrier) which guarantees the highest packaging stability even at low temperatures. We also supply Wax coated boards which further enhance the moisture barrier for products such as Ice Cream Cartons.
